Another blow for the Australian live music industry sees festival giant Splendour in the Grass cancel its 2020 flagship festival.
The Australian festival originally postponed its dates from July to October in hopes of the Coronavirus situation had settled and life would return back to normal.
Splendour in the Grass co-producers Jess Ducrou and Paul Piticco released a statement earlier stating “We have been monitoring the situation closely for the past few months and while Australia is now moving into the recovery phase, there is no timeline yet around the opening of international borders.”
“As a result, and with our audience interests front and centre, we must announce the reschedule to 2021 now.”
The Northern NSW festival will now take place next year, running from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 July, 2021.
When asked about the festival lineup, the original bill featured headliners Flume, The Strokes, and Tyler, the Creator, and Splendour “intend to rebook as many of the 2020 artists as possible and we have started to work through that process.”
All tickets for the 2020 edition of Splendour in the Grass are valid for Splendour 2021. Refunds will be available to those unable to make the rescheduled weekend via Moshtix…
